Self-Potrait

It took me two weeks to think of an idea of how to shoot a self-potrait of myself for my 4th assignment. I have to use imagery as a mean of describing myself, my state of mind and my thoughts. Since it has been raining lately, i came across the idea of taking photos of myself wearing 'baju kurung', holding an umbrella on a rainy day, waiting somewhere in the middle of the city where people in suits walking and passing by in the background. My intention was to show a person from a very traditional culture, lost in a big modern life, faraway from home, and to reflect how the person survives and fit into the world. But then, because of the unpredictable weather, plus the piles of school work and time spent mostly at work, i couldn't find the right time to shoot. So at the very last minute, i remembered going to a park near my house with Waqar where there was this wide park that you can see Washington monument and Jefferson Memorial from. Then came up this idea of jumping high up in the air in the park. An easy quick one to tell how i feel free and have control on my life no matter how far i am from home and family. So there you go. Below are snapshots of the experiment ones that i took with digital. Will post the one with the manual later.
The critique was actually held today. Its early at 8 am in the morning, so i had to run to the metro to catch the train. Late as always. Feel free to check my other work here. I have not yet posted all the ones with the critiques. So lazy. Later, hopefully.

Setiap hari Sabtu kena tunggu bas. Sebab selalu terlepas 5minit lambat, kena tunggu lagi 1 jam. Kali ni tak hujan mcm minggu lepas. Cuaca cerah sungguh elok. Ramai pulak org2 Sepanyol tunggu bas kali ni. Itu sahaja sekian terima kasih.

Winters over

It was snowstorm that day. The trees were all white covered with snow. Beautiful indeed, from my window.
This is Deep. Outfocus he was as i failed to set the manual properly.  We played badminton in the snow and i was jumping and throwing myself to the ground. We then ended up playing snowball at the frontyard.
Winters almost gone. Sad that i havent had the chance to go skiing that much. Especially to Snowshow mountain, which was suggested by my supervisor. He told me that he usually skies for a month every year before he was appointed to be the Chairman dept. I envied him. But no matter what, i always believe that whatever is or was meant to be, is from God's will, and i should be grateful for that.

My Commute

My stop at a camera store when im short of supplies, leaves me admiring those medium format cameras. Walking back home, always hoping that one day i could afford to rent one. Sigh.. -Gallery Palace, Chinatown.
My commute to school, for the very first two weeks in DC. Heading home from school, i used to get lost twice at night because i exited the wrong lane. I never bothered which exactly was my exit, as i always trust my instinct. So, i ended up crying that one midnight when i had to tour around and around the Dupont Circle, just to find my way back home. . -Dupont Circle.
My daily commute, day and night. -Court House.
Life takes transits, as you learn along the way.

Ski Liberty

Pennsylvania ,16 trails for this one. Went with the school trip. Drag Darakshan and Jean along too. Not to forget Syamsun, helping me guiding them skiing. It was their first time, but was fun! This is a very small mountain. Theres no snow in the neighborhood, so you can guess its mostly half covered snow-made. Am looking forward to two more mountains to go before the snow melts!

Seven Spring Mountain
|

This is Seven Spring mountain, Pennsylvania with 17 Trail & 14 Slopes. It was Christmas weekend, surprised to know that it stills open till late 10pm. The fisrt day was sunny, bright and clear. People even took off their jacket while skiing/snowboarding. But the second day started to shower a bit, still that didnt stop me from skiing  . It was very ..very foggy, i culdnt see a thing infront of me while skiing, so i had no choice but go with the instinc. Until im an expert, the pic will be just gud enugh for viewing.

Oh, no, I started to cry.

.Which started the whole world laughing.
Will i ever forget.
I looked at the skies running my hands over my eyes. And I fell out of bed hurting my head from things that they said. Dunt u see? You're slipping in and out of time, who are you to decide. You've lost your golden reigns, you've failed to read the signs.
But what choices are left to some? Didn't they just have to play along.
